SHOUTOUT LA: Meet Patille Violeta

We had the good fortune of connecting with Patille Violeta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patille, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Simple things and simple moments. Like sipping on a dandelion latte while watching the sunset. Kids being kids. Creating and nurturing community. The cathartic music playing in my ears. The present moment. Random acts of kindness. When strangers become friends. Adventures and experiences. Gift giving. A few years ago, I donated 70% of my belongings. I was shedding a layer of my identity and it felt appropriate to let go. Each time I gave something away, I felt a sense of lightness. Releasing the burdens I had been carrying.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

I practice the art of healing touch. Reiki is a simple and accessible healing modality from Japan. Administered in wellness spaces, hospitals, domestic shelters, and military camps, Reiki is an effective tool for trauma-healing.

I received a strong call to go to Armenia after the war in 2020. At the time, I wasn’t sure why. I knew I had to be there. I spent the first two months observing the way of life and connecting with my roots. When the time came to share Reiki, I was blown away by the receptivity of youth soldiers, activists, and yoga/meditation practitioners. Some even became Reiki Level one practitioners.

What sets me apart from others in the Wellness industry is my background in education, community building, hospitality, yoga, volunteer service, life coaching, and non-profit organizations. I’ve served people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, ages, and personalities.

With a community-centered approach, I bring the perspective of “we” to my work.

“None of us are well until all of us are well”.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my friend on a hike at the Lower Arroyo Seco. We’d have a bite at the Farmers Market in South Pasadena on Thursdays. Friday night, we’ll relax and enjoy the saunas and pools at Descanso Garden Spa. A weekend adventure in Topanga, Santa Barbara, and Ojai and perhaps visit The Krishnamurti Foundation. I really enjoy the Outdoor Summer concerts at Grand Park, Levitt Pavillion, One Colorado, Skirball Cultural Centers. I’d take my friend to enjoy art at the local museums: MOCA, LACMA, Asian Pacific Museum, and Getty Villa. We would go to Atwater Village and Highland Park, where they have a bunch of vegan restaurants, cafes, and artisanal boutiques. Kitchen Mouse is a great spot for vegan food and dessert. They have wifi, a cute vibe, and friendly staff!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I dedicate this Shoutout to my family!

Mom, you make the best dolma, sarma, and vospov kuffteh and you’re not even Armenian! You answer the phone at 2am to hear me out and offer your prayers. You’re hilarious and cute and I love filming your spontaneous dances that you never let me post

Bab, I’m in awe of your transformation! After 55, you learned how to cook, paint, play the guitar, and do yoga. Thank you for being my #1 fan.

Bro, thank you for being a real-life ninja. The world needs more ninjas. Your silent wisdom speaks volumes. Thank you for being the best brother ever.
